taxonomy: prepare for publication
We're going to release the initial paper soon:
Passive Taxonomy of Wifi Clients using MLME Frame Contents
+ Remove chipset identification. At this point we don't expect
it to be useful.
Instead, use the first field to provide a Genus label for
a device. If "iPad Air 2" is the species, "iPad" would be the
genus.
+ Remove the (few) laptop signatures. This acknowledges reality: this
mechanism is far better at identifying fixed configuration devices
where the Wifi hardware is an integral part of the device, like
it is with mobile devices. In laptops and desktops where Wifi is
provided by a separate card, the mechanism mostly identifies the
card (and that isn't very useful).
For example, we haven't been able to add more Macbook models because
the same signature identifies iMacs, PowerMacs, and every other
device using the same Airport card.
+ Globally correct spelling of Visio to Vizio.
+ Rename pcap files to comply with new naming convention.
