sched_burst.c Qdisc is debug tool to generate bursts in traffic by user request.
To compile it one line in current directory Makefile can be changed from
"obj-$(CONFIG_NET_SCHED) += sch_api.o sch_blackhole.o" to
"obj-$(CONFIG_NET_SCHED) += sch_api.o sch_blackhole.o sch_burst.o"
After kernel building Qdisc can be attached to network interface (e.g. eth1_0) this way:
$tc qdisc add dev eth1_0 root burst
To generate burst in traffic:
$echo 300 > /sys/class/net/eth1_0/burst
This command tells Qdisc to stop passing packets to ethernet device till 300 packets will be accumulated in tx queue.
After Qdisc has 300 packets, transmission would be returned to normal mode ("burst" mode cleared),
and all packets (including accumulated) would sent to network device as usual.
